Fun and games were the name of the game for some lucky south Essex children and their parents.

Families flocked to the Flagship Centre in Anchor Field, Tilbury, where an action-packed Step into Spring event was being held.

The building - home to Sure Start - offered parents and youngsters the chance to find out more about the work of the group and have fun at the same time.

The centre was opened last year as a purpose-built HQ for the organisation - a Government-funded scheme aimed at parents and carers of children under four.

Among its activities are a nursery providing affordable care, activity and counselling rooms, laundry facilities, soft and sensory rooms and a cafe.

It also hosts more than two dozen different activities for parents and children, including infant massage, story sessions and aerobics.

Sure Start is run in partnership with Thurrock Council, healthcare and voluntary agencies.
