A Colchester family were this afternoon cheering on Olympic hopeful Alex Coomber.
The RAF intelligence officer was today aiming to become the first Briton to win a Winter Olympics gold medal since Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Mrs Coomber is favourite to win gold in the terrifying skeleton bobsleigh event at the games, being held in Salt Lake City in the United States from 5pm UK time.
Her husband and coach Mark went to Philip Morant School in Colchester.
His mother Pam and sister Sharon were cheering her on at the family home in Victoria Road, Colchester.
