Final work on a school's security fence should start at Easter.
The Harwich School decided to put up the two-metre high steel fence after vandals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage there last year.
Half the fence has already been put up along Hall Lane in an attempt to separate the school from the nearby sports centre.
It is hoped the final stretch will be finished by summer to totally cordon off the site so people can not use it to get to the sports centre.
John Pavey, school bursar, told Harwich Crime Prevention Panel, that vandalism was now at a minimum because of the existing fence.
