Being a Tilbury fan hasn't been much fun. Not since Boxing Day when Dockers defeated East Thurrock have they seen their team win at St Chad's.
Now the followers have a new man at the helm with Bill McMeekin having been appointed in a caretaker capacity following last week's resignation of the club's most successful manager in recent years, Tony Cross.
Tilbury will hope that McMeekin can follow Dave Card's example at East Thurrock and he certainly started well enough with a 2-1 victory at Marlow.
In the wake of Cross's departure it could be that a few of the players may leave with defenders Darren Bennett and Michael Stanbrook coming to mind.
Expect McMeekin to give youth its chance and Tilbury may just be good enough to end that blank 2002 home run against third-from-bottom, but improving Wivenhoe.
