Plans to turn unused farm buildings into offices and factory units have been given the go-ahead.

At a meeting of Braintree Council's area committee on Tuesday night members gave permission and listed building consent to convert former farm buildings at Panfield Hall, Hall Road, Panfield, for light industrial and office use.

The permission also gives the green light for car parking facilities for 23 vehicles. It is expected about 30 people will be able to work in the converted buildings.

Residents of Hall Road are concerned the scheme will generate additional traffic and increase the chances of an accident happening at the junction of Hall Road and Shalford Road.

But planning officer Mark Jackson said it was not believed a large amount of lorries or commercial vehicles would visit the site.
