A family escaped unharmed today after their car burst into flames on the A130 at Canvey.
The husband, wife and their young child were safely out of the Vauxhall when fire crews and police arrived.
Both tracks between Sadlers Farm roundabout and the A127 were closed off while firefighters dealt with the blaze - the road was reopened within half-an-hour.
