Kings Health and Fitness Centre has been funded by the King Edmund School, in Vaughan Close, Ashingdon.
In school grounds, the complex will be used by staff and students during school hours, but in the evenings and at weekends it will be open to the public for a membership fee.
Facilities include a sports hall, swimming pool and a fitness suite with the latest hi-tech equipment. Around £70,000 has been spent on equipment and it is hoped that there will be further improvements in the coming months.
