Paul Parker's Chelmsford City took a giant stride towards securing Premier Division survival on Saturday with victory against Worcester City at New Lodge.

Record signing Kris Lee, out of sorts for the last couple of months, made the perfect return to form bagging the opener on 13 minutes. The young striker took Kevin Dobinson's pass in his stride to beat Danny McDonnell with relative ease.

The match never really found the spark which manager Parker has tried to instill into his troups this season, and Worcester seized upon predictable home build-up play to break forward and snatch an equaliser on 27 minutes.

Nathan Jukes spun in a deep and dangerous cross which was well executed by Adam Webster for the leveller.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Worcester happy to let the Clarets run proceedings without seriously threatening McDonnell. To their surprise then, City had a match-winner up their sleeves, as an almighty goalmouth scramble ended with Junior Samuels prodding the ball in on with only four minutes left to play.

A valuable three points for Chelmsford which takes them four points clear of the drop places and on the verge of the top half.
