A successful project aimed at cleaning up and improving safety in Basildon is to be extended to the rest of the town, Wickford and Billericay.
The project will move around the district to clean up litter, improve street lighting, remove abandoned vehicles and maintain trees, shrubs and footpaths.
Basilodon Council spokeswoman Nina Miller said it now hoped to clean up the rest of the district.
"With the success of the pilot scheme in Craylands and Felmores five teams will begin to work in new areas in September."
Five-man teams will now begin long-term programmes to tackle the various problems around the district.
Nina Miller said: "The teams will stay permanently for the foreseeable future."
