The Basildon-based boss of BAE Systems' avionics division is moving to take up a place at the top of the giant defence contractor.
Chris Geoghegan, group managing director of BAE Systems Avionics Group, is to leave his Christopher Martin Road office to take up his new role as one of BAE Systems' three chief operating officers, with responsibility for operational, capital and shared services businesses. He will also lead the company's commercial function.
He replaces Mike Turner, who became chief executive of the company following the shock resignation of John Weston to pursue other interests.
Mr Geoghegan, who has been with the company since 1976, will be succeeded at BAE Systems Avionics Group's Basildon headquarters by Nick Franks, formerly managing director of the company's Gripen and South Africa operations.
