Great Wakering Rovers were left kicking their heels on Saturday when the match referee ruled that the St Chad's pitch was not fit for their Division One North derby at Tilbury.
The Dockers received a £30,000 summer grant to carry out work on their troublesome surface and work included new drains and relaying of the playing surface.
Secretary Lloyd Brown said: "A major problem has arisen as since the work was done in early June, we just have not had enough rain to bed the new surface in.
"We would have liked the work to have started earlier as the ground was available from late April, but the contractors couldn't start until June. We were disappointed at the referee's decision as we'd played four games on the pitch with no problems."
"We're gutted as we've gone out of our way to improve things and the dry weather has caused us this problem."
