A Basildon pub team is on the brink of the golfing trip of a lifetime after progressing in the Golfing Pub of the Year contest.
Stuart Michaelson, Darren Turner, Ron Wilkes and Ray Short won the area heat at Crowborough Beacon and are preparing for the Area final at Lamberhurst in Kent next May.
And success there and in the South East Region final would see them jetting out to Vilamoura in Portugal for the national finals.
"It was an excellent day of golfing action and I would like to congratulate the Roof Garden and all the other teams who have made it through this very tough Area Heat," said Graeme Mitchell of sponsors Bass Ale.
"To play on one of Europe's finest golf courses is a massive incentive for everyone involved and you can see that a number of competitors are raising their games to the highest level. I wish everyone the best of luck at Lamberhust Golf Club next May."
