Plans for a massive new leisure complex for Southend have been rejected by councillors.

The proposed site for a new David Lloyd Leisure club was described as "totally unsuitable" at Southend Council's development control committee. David Lloyd Leisure looked at a number of sites before settling on Snakes Lane, Eastwood.

It was rejected because of loss of open space and the implications for traffic.
