Antisocial behaviour in Basildon is twice the problem it was six months ago, according to new figures.
Basildon Council has received 1,253 complaints about antisocial behaviour between April and September, dwarfing the previous six-month figure of 584.
The main issues were noise (314 complaints), youth nuisance (183 complaints), litter and rubbish (173 complaints), verbal abuse (100 complaints) and vandalism (93 complaints).
The council blames seasonal trends for the increase, which was particularly noticeable in categories like youth nuisance and rubbish dumping.
Conservative council leader Malcolm Buckley said: "Antisocial behaviour in housing and the community generally is something we would like to see reduced."
Det Chief Insp Tim Wills, of Basildon police, said: "We work closely with the council over anti-social behaviour.
"There has been over 150 referrals that have been considered for potential Asbo's (anti-social behaviour orders). However, there have been none issued to date and this is because an Asbo application is used as a last resort."
