Police in Thurrock have appealed for help after a series of three car-jacking attacks in the last two weeks

Officers are linking the attacks, the latest of which happened at around 9.50pm on Tuesday, on the A13 London-bound carriageway.

A married couple were in their Mercedes S500 series car when it was rammed from behind. Two men, described as around 5ft 5in tall and Asian, got out and one punched the husband before stealing the car.

The attackers' vehicle had R54 on its number plate.

Last Friday, two women were accosted by three Asian men near the Esso garage in Hogg Lane, Grays.

The women were in an MG and the men claimed they did not speak English before trying to pull one of the women out of the car. Car keys were taken, but they failed to take the vehicle.

The first incident happened at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock when a 48-year-old woman had just parked her purple-coloured saloon at a loading bay near the Warner Bros cinema complex.

She was approached by two men who grabbed her, stole the car keys and drove off in the vehicle at on October 30.

Anybody who thinks they may know the men, or who recognises their style of attack is asked to contact Det Con Stephen Little on 01375 391212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
