A bizarre succession of accidents resulted in three ambulances being called to assist a Danbury heart attack victim last week but, tragically, it was impossible to save his life.
The first ambulanceman, from Burnham, broke his nose walking into a glass door at the victim's home.
A second paramedic, from South Woodham Ferrers, was called as back-up, but knocked himself out walking into the same door.
A third ambulance, from Maldon, was then alerted and the two injured paramedics were taken to Broomfield Hospital for treatment. The accidents all happened around 7.30pm on Thursday.
An Essex Ambulance spokeswoman said: "The heart attack patient was treated immediately at the scene by the uninjured officer in the first crew and there was no wait for treatment.
"Unfortunately, the man died despite the attempt at heart resuscitation by our officers. The ambulance officers were treated at the scene."
