Soap star Nicholas Schofield, the lead in Basildon's Towngate Theatre's Christmas production, returned to his roots in the town - and went back to school.
The 21-year-old, who plays Ryan Harper in ITV's Night and Day, paid a visit to his old school, Lee Chapel Primary.

Dozens of children were keen to talk to Nicholas, who will play Dick Whittington in the theatre's first production in eight years.
Nicholas lived in Basildon and spent his last three years of primary education at the school in The Knares. He said: "It was wonderful to be back and see how little the school had changed.
"It brought back a lot of memories, in particular my many performances on the stage there."
