Vandalism and under-age drinking have been monitored by Castle Point police in two areas in Benfleet.
Residents had complained people were vandalising an area of fencing, and stones on a footpath and cycleway at the back of their houses were being used as ammunition to break windows and greenhouses near St Mary's Church and Hall Farm Close.
Nigel Thomas, Castle Point Council's director of technical services, told the Benfleet area forum: "Since our last meeting, this footpath and cycleway has been surfaced with tarmac and all the material being used as ammunition is now covered over.
"I have not had any further reports of vandalism since this work has taken place."
