Police are drafting in extra officers for tomorrow's FA Cup first round match between Ryman League Heybridge Swifts and Division Two Bristol City, but have no plans to change their tactics.

Inspector Kevin Jacobs, of Maldon police, said that they had been waiting to see how Bristol City fans behaved at Colchester United's Layer Road ground on Saturday, to decide whether or not they would have to increase patrols or numbers further.

"The behaviour of the supporters at Colchester was very good, with no arrests made," he said.

He is hoping that the same atmosphere and behaviour will be present at Swifts' Scraley Road ground tomorrow, for the 12.30pm match.

An extra 30 police officers from around Essex will be drawn in to patrol in and around the ground, as already planned.

Insp Jacobs, who expects about 450 City fans to make the trip to Heybridge, stressed that there would be no parking in Scraley Road or Rowan Drive. Instead, there will be parking at Slough House Farm.

He urged any local residents going to the strictly all-ticket match to walk to the ground.
