Chelmsford striker Dave De Prez continued his fine goalscoring form by striking twice for the second week in succession, this time to sink Brooklands at Chelmer Park last week.

Although Chelmsford welcomed the points as they sought to move up the Division One table, Brooklands caused a little concern in the Chelmsford camp when they took the lead five minutes before half-time.

However, in an often untidy confrontation, it was the Essex side who seized the initiative in the second half and hung on in the dying minutes for a valuable win.

While De Prez stole the limelight, Chelmsford were indebted to goalkeeper David Carter for an impressive performance that peaked in the final minute with a stunning penalty corner save, high to his left.

In the 30th minute Grant Clark gave his side a narrowly deserved half-time lead with a firm penalty corner strike just inside the left-hand post.

Disappointed at their performance in the first period, Chelmsford stepped up the pace in the second.

Seven minutes after the break the Chelmsford striker De Prez picked up the ball just outside the Brooklands 'D' before drifting to his left and sending an unstoppable reverse-stick shot between the posts.

While his first goal was as emphatic as they come, the second owed a little to good fortune.

Wilcox and Fulton combined on the right before the latter found De Prez lurking on the back line. He tried to find a team mate in front of goal and was delighted to see his flicked cross deflect off a defender and into the Brooklands goal.

Chelmsford skipper Andrew Kennedy said after the game, "To be honest, the three points was all that really counted today. We've been playing some good stuff this year without finding the finishing touch, so it was ironic that we managed a win without really being at our best."
