Steve Whitton is confident the good times could be just around the corner for Colchester United.

And although he and his players are facing a tough end of year programme in games against Luton, Cardiff, Peterborough and Blackpool, the U's boss has declared: "I'll be telling the lads to go for it.

"It won't be easy but I'd love to finish the year with an unbeaten run and now that our lengthy injury list has all but cleared up I know we have the players to beat any team on our day.

"Only Joe Dunne and Gavin Johnson of our long-term injured players are missing now. Karl Duguid and Scott Fitzgerald are raring to go again; Adrian Coote is back with a bang after scoring four goals for the reserves on Monday and Chris Keeble has already made his comeback.

"Now we have real competition for places all over the pitch and that might just give us the edge to push on from here. But without throwing caution completely to the wind we've got to go out and make things happen."
