A Castle Point councillor today told of his crusade to stamp out anti-social behaviour after an act of vandalism went a "step too far".

Leader of the council Dave Wells condemned the vandals who hurled a brick through a bus window, leaving a senior citizen with a head covered in blood.

Mr Wells (Lab, St George's) said: "When I heard a brick had been thrown at a bus I was disgusted. That is going one step too far - it is just plain dangerous.

"The more they get away with, the bolder they become. We need to take a hard line with the few troublemakers who drag others into the frame."
