Police were today hunting the driver of a car which smashed into the front of a house in Dudley Close, Chafford Hundred, last night.
The Nissan driver received slight injuries to his hand and mouth, but then fled.
Police are trying to trace him.
A spokesman for the Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "The woman of the house was rendered homeless for the night.
"The car smashed through the wall and bay window."
