Two potential sites have been identified for a bus station for Clacton.
Residents and a developer have put forward the options after it was revealed Essex County Council is to provide the facility for the town as part of its plan to get more people on to public transport.
Clacton is one of a number of large population areas without a bus station and investigations are being carried out to address the problem.
Essex county and Tendring district councillor Roy Smith said he had been surprised at the amount of interest following a report in the Evening Gazette last week.
"The telephone was ringing with possible suggestions and ideas almost as soon as the paper was out on the streets. I took about 20 calls over the weekend on the subject and people are very keen to see this initiative progressed," he said.
Mr Smith said the two options put forward were a triangular plot of land opposite Clacton Railway Station and the High Street car park.
He believed both sites were owned by Tendring Council and felt they were worth further investigation.
