Justine Stammers has been awarded her black belt at South Woodham Ferrers Kick-Boxing Club -- the first member to achieve the honour.
Justine has been training for five years under instructor Gary Hogben (Fourth Dan) and the black belt examination took almost a year to complete.
Because Justine's achievement is unique at the club the chief instructor of the JMAMA, Sixth Dan Jim McAllister attended to make the award personally.
McAllister Kickboxing is a dynamic martial art and features techniques from boxing, karate, Thai boxing and street self defence.
Justine lives at Battlesbridge and, as well as Woodham, students travel from Thurrock, Basildon and Southend to attend the club.
The club meets at the William de Ferrers Sports Centre, Trinity Square in Woodham Classes are held on Mondays and full information is available from Gary Hogben on 07956 864086.
