A science teacher is today travelling to Buckingham Palace to receive her MBE from the Queen.
Nirmal Gupta, who teaches at Shoeburyness High School in Caulfield Road, was selected for the prestigious award to reward her work in education.

Mrs Gupta's MBE, which was also for her involvement with the Hindu community in south Essex, formed part of the Queen's Birthday's Honours which were announced.
The teacher, who lives in Appledore, said: "I am very excited about going to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and to receive my MBE."
Dedicated Mrs Gupta works full-time at Shoeburyness High School and also tutors pupils on Saturday mornings, as well as taking an active role in the Hindu community.
