The scent of roasting chestnuts filled the packed streets during the second of Maldon's celebrated Victorian evenings.
The town was in party mood again yesterday following the first late-night shopping extravaganza a week ago.
Fire jugglers, hand-bell ringers, a Newfoundland dog pulling a carriage and the Salvation Army band were just some of the attractions in the town's High Street.
Scores of residents donned 19th century garb to add to the Victorian mood generated by the sight of Queen Victoria passing by in her carriage, with Father Christmas leading a procession behind.
The event, which has become an institution in the town over the years, attracted visitors from around the county.
