A woman was taken to hospital following a three-vehicle smash in Basildon.
The pile-up between a van, car and lorry caused traffic chaos as vehicles were stopped in both directions for 20 minutes while emergency crews attended the scene yesterday in Nevendon Road, Basildon.
The car driver was taken to Basildon Hospital.
She was conscious throughout the ordeal and her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The other drivers were not hurt.
A man who died in a crash at Howe Green, near Chelmsford, has been named by police.
He was Mark Falter, 42, from Old Church Road, East Hanningfield.
