A Southend firefighter today told how a burning porch fell on him as he tackled a major blaze.
Mark Dibbons, from Southend, needed hospital treatment after debris burnt through his headgear at a fire which destroyed a family's home in Bulwark Road, Shoebury.
Despite his injuries, he was back at work within days and joked: "It burnt some of my hair off - and I haven't got that much to spare."
