Planning experts in Colchester are to scour plans for a new telephone mast - outside their office.
Mobile phone firm Orange wants to install an 8m mast on a pavement outside the Lexden Grange offices in Lexden Road.
Lexden Grange is the base for Colchester Council's planning and building control team.
The proposal - on Essex County Council land - includes a single mast with antennae and an equipment cabinet.
A spokesman for Ceetech, which acts on behalf of Orange, said the mast was needed as there was inadequate provision of Orange's service in the Lexden Road area.
If the council's planning committee backs the plan, the mast will sit among 15m high trees and will not overlook homes in the area.
