A group of teenagers on Canvey have gathered a petition of 2,000 signatures backing their call for a skate park.
James Cawfield, 15, of Protea Way, who is head of a 12-strong committee, said: "People have never been happy about skating in the town centre.
"A new skate park is definitely a solution."
A potential site has been identified next to the Waterside Leisure Centre on the island.
