James Morgan continued his purple patch of scoring for Southend as he helped the first team to a share of the spoils with a last-minute equaliser at home against Colchester.

The visitors went 2-0 ahead in the first period but Southend, sporting a brand new kit donated by players Rob Sanders and Dave Robeson, battled back.

However, all attempts at getting back into the game were thwarted until 10 minutes from time when Ian Crompton found a gap and Morgan beat the keeper for Paul Somerfield to get the final touch.

Then Morgan struck with the last strike of the match. Finding himself in space in the D, he dummied the keeper and lobbed him as he sprawled helplessly on the floor.

The second XI had a top of the Printwize table clash with Dunmow and went down 3-1, their only goal of the game coming when Micky Walsh got on the end of a Karl Druce through ball.
