The votes are in and counted to the name of Colchester Zoo's young bull elephant.
After 20,003 people clicked on their mice to chose their favourite name on the Zoo's website, Kit emerged as the winner.
The name, which means precious, was one of seven on a shortlist drawn up by zoo keepers.
The names to choose from were: Boya, Kito, Kayin, Jabari, Kumi, Hasani and Sid.
Kito was the winning name by a wide margin in the poll, which closed at midnight.
Alex Burr, zoo marketing director, said: "We have been overwhelmed by the number of calls and letters we've received with good wishes from people all over the world. We're very pleased with the choice of the name Kito for such a special baby."
