A diver is preparing to take the plunge and stay there for as long as possible to break a world record and raise money for charity.
Mick Brown, 50, will be diving under the water at Walton swimming pool on February 1, with only one 12-litre high-pressure cylinder of air in a bid to break the current world record of six hours 57 seconds.

Diving instructor Mr Brown of Salisbury Road, Holland-on-Sea, will donate all money raised to a minibus fund for the Clacton and District Occupational Workshops.
The record breaking attempt is being organised by Mr Brown and Clacton Rotary Club and supporters are asked to pay £1 each to guess how long he can stay under, with a £100 prize on offer.
