Essex Police have appealed for witnesses to an attack by a gang of men who struck a 37-year-old man with a hammer and a baseball bat.
The victim escaped with facial bruising and cuts after he was approached as he walked along Eastwood Lane South in Westcliff.
Officers believe it was unprovoked and started after one of the attackers stepped out of a car.
