Thieves struck in a Colchester church, stealing a woman's handbag.
It was taken, along with bank cards and cash, from Lexden Evangelical Church, London Road, then found dumped nearby with the valuables removed.
Two people described as "lads" were seen in the church about the time of the theft, about 7.15pm on Saturday.
