Heads were bowed for a minute's silence at last night's Castle Point Council meeting for three colleagues who died in the last three weeks.
The show of respect was for former mayor Peggy Grant, Canvey councillor Brian Weller and the borough's first mayor Vera Elworthy.
It was followed by a series of individual tributes from councillors, who praised the work of the three stalwarts.
