Benfleet residents were today urged to express their views on a series of traffic improvement schemes planned for Castle Point.

The public will get the chance to give their opinions on a number of proposals that will be showcased at the Benfleet area forum scheduled to take place tonight.

The display at the council chamber in Kiln Road, Thundersley, will be part of an ongoing exhibition marathon about finding a solution for congestion in the area.

Nigel Thomas, the council's director of technical services, said: "The response to the exhibitions has so far been enormous."

The options for those to study tonight will include:

A highway link between the A130 and the A13 towards Pitsea

The duelling of Canvey Way

Widening proposals at the junction of Tarpots

Traffic signal installations

A roundabout enlargement

Two other road proposals that were put forward were for a new highway linking the Thundersley area and the new A130 into Church Road and for a possible road linking the Jotmans Lane area with the new A130.

Tonight's meeting is set to start at 7.30pm - all residents of Benfleet are welcome to attend.
