Buddy Holly music fan Dave Tobin has decided to follow in his hero's footsteps - by moving to Texas.
The 62-year-old granddad, of Westbury Road, Southend, has collected dozens of records, photos and books about his idol but felt it was not enough.
When he retires as a vehicle engineer on Friday he flies out after saying farewell to friends at the Spread Eagle pub in Southend.
