Teams of police burst into two Colchester town centre bedsits today in the latest Operation Tralee drugs raid

The officers struck at 7.30am, making the 13th arrest in the ongoing drive to tackle class A drug dealing in the town

A Colchester police response team and the proactive unit joined forces for the raid on the two bedsits in a house in Chapel Street North.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to the town's police station where he was today due to be questioned on suspicion of class A drug dealing.

Det Sgt Roy Clark, of Colchester CID, speaking minutes after the carefully-planned raid, said: "It has gone very well.

"The search is still under way so it's too early to say what we might find in the premises, but I'm happy that we have arrested someone."

He added: "This brings the number of Operation Tralee arrests to 13. There will be more in the pipeline.

"We are determined to arrest and prosecute people who deal in class A drugs."

Operation Tralee was made public last month when police made six arrests in one day following weeks of intelligence work.
