Thieves drove away a dumper truck from a Westcliff building site in the middle of the night.
The £9,000 Peljob dumper was taken from the McAlpine site at the junction of Hamlet Court Road and London Road.
It had been left locked and with the shovel part of a digger in the back of it in an attempt to hold it down.
