Southend athlete Mitchell Wilkin has gained further recognition from the Scottish Athletics Federation.
He gained an international vest for Scotland last summer and then won the Scottish Championships for both long and triple jumps.
Mitchell also finished top of SAF's rankings for both events.
At the end of the season, he was selected for the Bank of Scotland talented young athletes jumps squad and has attended three winter training weekends as a result.
Mitchell has now been nominated by the federation and successfully applied for Lottery Funding with Sport Scotland which will provide financial support to aid his competition, training and medical costs for the coming season.
SAF have also recognised his potential to the extent that he will be featured in their 2003 Yearbook in a series of pen-pictures of rising stars for the future.
Mitchell, a member of Southend AC, has also just received an invitation from SAF to attend warm weather training sessions in Portugal in April.
