More than 100 south Essex women were entertained by BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond at a gala lunch.
Ms Bond was speaking at a meeting of the Ladies Executive Luncheon Club, in the Cumberland Suite, Pembury Road, Westcliff.

The correspondent also answered questions from interested members, who are made up of female members from the local business community.
Group committee member Edwina Kinch said: "Everyone was really looking forward to Jennie's visit. We all thought she would be highly entertaining and very informative, and she was.
"She has done so well in her job and we all have a lot of respect for her."
