A county divisional final proved a bridge to far for Leigh's junior boys team.
A series of consistent performances throughout the winter season saw the quartet win the Division 3C championship.
The four -- Jamie Moir, James Pilcher, Ben Hunter and Ben Caton -- had hoped to win the overall Essex Junior Winter League Division Three title.
But that hope came of the rails in the semi-finals of the divisional play off when the Adalia Crescent club's teenagers were defeated by a stronger and older line up from Chadwell Heath on Saturday.
But club coach Anne Wright praised the team's efforts in the semi-final and congratulated them on their Division 3C triumph.

Senior Essex Winter League action saw Westcliff Lawn's ladies defeat Billericay 3-1 in Division One.
And Thorpe Bay's men's first team enjoyed a 4-0 Division One win over Westcliff Lawn thanks to Jon Lee, Andrew Ferguson, Graham Bloomfield and Rob Gordon.
