A record label based in Southend is celebrating its first anniversary in style - at the Brit awards.

MMP Music was set up by two lads from Westcliff, Darren Harvey and Dominic Westgarth, who both share a lifelong love of music.

Off to the Brits - Lisa Jeffrey and Darren Harvey with the new release Picture: LUAN MARSHALL

After a year's hard work the label is going from strength to strength, with their first single, Destiny by Bobby Jo, released on February 17.

The pair hope that the dance track will be a big hit on the dance floors of clubs like Talk, Chameleon and other clubs all over the country.

In the same week the single is released Darren and Dominic will be attending the Brits after they were invited by music industry organisers.

Darren said: "This is a great way to celebrate our first year.

"We've all worked hard to get things off the ground and the Brits is a great place to network with others in the industry.

"Who knows, next year, one of our acts may even be nominated."

The next big project for the label is to set up a three-piece girlband and they aim to keep it local.
