Homeowners in Tendring face an average district council tax rise of 2.5 per cent.
This amounts to an average band D increase from £108.13 to £110.83 for 2003-4.
The amount charged to Tendring Council taxpayers will be added to the other demands from Essex County Council and the Essex Police Authority. Essex County Council has warned it may have to increase its levy by 17 per cent.
Tendring Council cabinet yesterday slated a last-minute reduction in the support given by the Government of £90,000.
They said this amount would have to be made up from their own pockets.
Bill Bleakley, finance portfolio holder, welcomed the fact they had been able to keep the increase in council tax to an inflation-only increase.
