Plans to bring improved sporting facilities to Stanford-le-Hope have taken a signinifcant step foward.
The Stanford-le-Hope Recreation Ground User Group (SRGUG) have launched a Buy-a-Brick scheme in which they aim to raise £15,000.

And they are confident of reaching their target because Sport England have fowarded their application for National Lottery funding to a second stage.
The total cost is £250,000 that would see the current clubhouse extended and refurbished, plus the reorganisation of the playing pitches.
Angela Smith MP helped launched the scheme, along with Geoff Howell from the Cory Trust, who have pledged funding, and Thurrock ward councillor Alphonse Nuss.
SRGUG is made up of Stanford Cricket Club, Stanford Rugby Club, Stanford Tennis Club; and United Services Bowls Club.
