A sub-post office in Frinton is to close, it has been confirmed.
The post office at Pole Barn Lane Stores is to shut on Thursday, March 6, but the shop will remain open.
Jan Cook, who has run the stores since 1991, said she was intending to use the extra space for other products, including stationery.
She admitted it would be easier to run without the commitment to the sub-post office, including the potential threat of violence.
She also praised her customers and said: "People have been very understanding."
The sub-post office closure follows a month-long consultation period in which the views of residents, groups, councillors and the MP were sought.
