Runnymede Swimming club were victorious by a 53 point margin over nearest rivals, Harlow Penguins, in the Pat Carlane Trophy gala at Runnymede.

This competition is held in memory of one of the club's founder members and 20 victories plus ten second places demonstrated the strength in depth of the club's young squad members.

Competing in their first gala for the club, the new kids on the block George Smith, Laura Humphreys, Jennifer Lamb and Alex Delicata started off the evening well with a clear win in the nine years mixed freestyle relay.

This feat was repeated in the medley relay later in the evening. Alex and George were ably assisted by Jonathon Ellis, Joe Thompson and James Craigie in netting victories in both the boys medley and freestyle relays in that age group.

Rebecca Scott showed the opposition how to swim 50 metres breaststroke in double-quick time, winning the girls 12 years and under event in a new personal best time.

Elliot Eveleigh was a double individual winner taking the 11 and under butterfly and breaststroke events by a clear margin, both in best times.

Another double winner was William Muggleton in the boys 10 years butterfly and freestyle, each time securing the touch in a tight finish.
