Travellers who have set up camp near a boatyard have vowed to leave the site as they found it when they move on.
Concerns had been raised over the state the council-owned land, off Canvey Road, Canvey, would be left in after the convoy of caravans arrived.

One of the travellers, John Stuart, 35, told how the group had arrived on the island after travelling from Birmingham.
He said: "We are only planning to stay for about five days, maybe up to a week, and we will leave this site as clean as we found it. We are aware the council is trying to move us on, but there is no need, as we are not planning to stay permanently."
